I {heart} Faces - "Faces and Flowers"

For months now I have been telling myself I would enter one of the photo challenges at I Heart Faces  So this weeks theme caught my attention quickly.  Baby "A" is one of the sweetest babies I have had the opportunity to photograph.

For all the month of January, Yuki-San has graciously opened up the wall of his restaurant to  a few of us Okinawa Photographers. Head out to Sushi Zen for some amazing sushi by the seawall and take in the photographic works of the photographers. Trash the Dress - FootSteps Photography Okinawa

Trash The Dress is about trashing or otherwise having fun in a wedding dress or a formal ball gown in a unexpected location. These were all taken in grungy locations no formal gown would normally go to give contrast between the beauty and the grunge. What a great way to trash your dress from this seasons ball or holiday party.

 

 

A good friend of mine, Vanessa from Charming Memories, and I went out with Julienne to trash this dress and have a great time doing it. I look forward to the next time I get to work with these fantastic ladies.

Smash that cake.... FootSteps Photography Okinawa

Baby D turned 1 year old last week. Awww it is hard to believe that it has already been a year since I went to his home to photograph him after his birth. He was and still is such a cutie. Now beginning to be a little man.

Then.

 

Now.

He had a lot of fun with the cake his mommy made just for him. It was gone in no time.

Then it was off to the castle ruins for some outside fun with him and his parents.

A great beach close to home - FootSteps Photography Okinawa

This beach has to be one of the best beaches for families with small children. Beach, rocks, grass, beautiful views and even a small park. Also for this family it is almost out their backdoor from their house.

Beautiful colors were abound today during the shoot. I decided to play around a little with an old-school method I learned during film development classes in collage with this one only with digital methods.

Just the kids this time - FootSteps Photography Okinawa

Get ready for a bit of an overload on blog posts as I have been busy busy busy and neglected updating the blog.

Here are a few of just this families two cute, silly and very active kids. It made for one tiring photo shoot keeping up with these two. As once down by the water I don't think anyone get to stay dry. A wave came up and I was wet up to my shoulders. It could be that I was lying down in the sand at the time.

A couple of weeks ago my good friend and her daughter came over and we did some quick photos of her in the most beautiful dress her daddy got her when he was TDY.

I finally got to use one of my new backdrops with her. I think the colors on these photographs would make PERFECT metallic prints as well as beautifully wrapped canvases.

Okinawan Culturesque photo session

Taking a look at all of the photos from this family session will just make you want to scream OKINAWA. They were all troopers. Anyone who has been on Okinawa for the last month knows that it is going to rain on the weekend. Yep it rained on us on and off the entire time. We just had to duck and cover for a few short bursts of time.  It did not seem to both the kids any.

It's baby season

It must be baby season on Okinawa. Two newborns in one week is rare for me but this sweet little girl came as the second newborn baby photographed a few days after the newborn boy was in the studio. It seems that every newborn gets immediately hungry under the studio lights as did this little girl. She finally fell asleep and we got some great shots with help from mom and dad.
